Students interested in applying to a two-year college or technical school are not always required to take the ACT and/or SAT I. Some programs at these colleges, however, do require them. It’s better to have taken them and not need them than to find out too late that you should have taken them and didn’t.

Students can pick up free ACT/SAT registration forms in the Counseling Office. You can also register online at www.collegeboard.com for SAT and www.act.org for ACT. Free practice tests for the ACT are provided in the Counseling Office. Both tests are given on several Saturdays at various locations listed, including Hayes High School. The tests last four to five hours.

What is the ACCUPLACER?

Academic advisors and counselors at your college or technical school (such as Columbus State Community College and Marion Technical College) use your ACCUPLACER test results to help place you in classes that match your skill level. ACCUPLACER tests help identify your knowledge, strength, and needs in math, reading, and writing. Along with information about your academic background, goals, and interests, your ACCUPLACER results help you choose courses that match your skill level and give you the best opportunities for success.

How can I prepare for ACT/SAT/ACCUPLACER/ASVAB/Ohio State tests?

One of the best ways to prepare is by taking challenging core courses. Another way is to use the free practice test provided when you pick up the registration packet. There are test-taking strategies located inside that booklet. There are also books, computer programs, and independent businesses that offer assistance.

The Hayes High School Math Dept has created a Canvas ACT Math course to help prep students for the Math Section of the ACT.  Please email Mrs. Luksic at luksicde@delawarecityschools.net if you would like to be added to the course.
